Kevin Mackessy started Blue Olive Properties in 1999 as a holding company for his own real estate investments. On April 19, 2001 he incorporated the company as a Limited Liability Company in Colorado. In 2004, Mr. Mackessy earned his real estate license in Colorado, primarily as a way to buy and sell his own investment properties. However, he found he enjoyed working with other investors, and decided to expand the company to help new investors.
Mr. Mackessy joined Keller Williams Real Estate in 2004 and was a top producer into early 2008. His primary focus at Keller Williams was teaching real estate investment seminars based on the Millionaire Real Estate Investor published by Gary Keller, Dave Jenks, and Jay Papasan. These popular semnars were well attended throughout 2004-2007, with groups of 30-40 investors going through the program. Mr. Mackessy taught many first-time investors the basics of real estate investing, and showed them how to find, purchase, and rent profitable investment properties.
In 2007 Mr. Mackessy also taught fix and flip seminars based on the book Flip: How to Find, Fix and Sell Houses for Profit, written by Rick Villani and Clay Davis. Mr. Mackessy attended a two-week, professional level workshop in Austin, Texas, hosted and taught by the authors of Flip, during which he learned first-hand from the authors how to effectively and profitably fix and flip properties. He helped many of his investors through hundreds of successful fix and flip projects. True profits ranged from $10,000 to over $50,000 on these highly successful projects. Mr. Mackessy believes that after the harsh realities of the past three years, the Denver real estate market is well-positioned for investors to start to consider fix and flip projects, as well as traditional buy, fix and hold investments. The Denver market is currently presenting an almost perfect storm of reasonable property prices, a good selection of investment properties, very favorable investor financing, and an incredibly strong rental market. In 2008, Mr. Mackessy left Keller Williams and took Blue Olive Properties independent. As a result of the 2008 real estate market collapse, Mr. Mackessy decided to put the majority of his time and effort into building the property management company. With the current state of the real estate market, many property owners have faced declining property values, and if forced to move, for a new job in another state, or an unfortunate event such as a divorce, these owners often find it difficult, if not impossible, to sell their homes. To help with this problem, in 2008 Blue Olive Properties started taking in properties for management from regular home owners. We understand your issues and we offer realistic solutions, helping property owners feel comfortable in renting their valuable homes. We make the process easily understandable, and our systems take the worry out of renting a home.
Today, Blue Olive Properties helps both investors and home owners through our complete property management system. We are 100% safe and secure in all of our financial dealings, and we treat your funds as we would want our own handled. We work hard to provide timely maintenance services to both property owners and tenants. We offer a full range of general maintenance services through our preferred vendor network. We handle the full gambit of residential repairs, including plumbing and electrical repairs. During the Summer growing season, we offer landscaping services, including sprinkler services, lawn mowing, trimming and tree trimming. Many of our vendors who have been with us for many years, in areas such as HVAC repair and installation, appliance service, garage door repairs and installs, window repairs and installs, fencing, concrete, painting, plumbing, drain cleaning, and many other services. We offer anything from simple repairs to complete property rehabs.
